OUR WORSHIP

"We  noticed that you don't have a piano..."

Such comments are not uncommon among visitors and those unfamiliar with our style of worship.  We don't exclude man-made instruments just to be different. Someone once asked if we couldn't afford an organ or piano.  It's not that either.

What pleases God is for His children, the objects of His affection, to worship Him in spirit and in truth.   Our experience has been that man-made musical instruments tend to get in the way and ultimately become an obstacle to worship rather than an aid to worship. We are reminded that worship is not a concert, a program or even a performance to man but praise to the Lord from the heart of the believer.  When we,by faith, present our bodies a "living sacrifice", that this reasonable service is acceptable to God.

"I will sing of the mercies of the Lord forever; with my mouth will I make known thy faithfulness to all generations"  Psalms 89:1

The pattern of New Testament worship reflects the beauty and simplicity of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Worship consists of singing, praying and preaching. Worship is both giving oneself and giving of oneself.  Preaching, as established in the infancy of the Christian church, is by a God-called minister.  This pattern of teaching, exhortation and encouragement was established in the early church and has not been improved upon since that day.

"And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive; because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him; but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you." John 14:16&17
